New Violence Against Bangladeshi Hindus May Have Political Motive
One youth died and homes were burned when violence erupted November 10 in Thakurpara, a majority Hindu village in Rangpur Sadar in Northern Bangladesh. The mob of some 20,000 was incited by rumors that a Hindu resident defamed Islam in a Facebook posting.

UN Special Rapporteur on Religious Rights Briefs General Assembly on Global Religious Intolerance
In his briefing to the UN General Assembly human rights committee October 24, UN Special Rapporteur on Religious Rights Ahmed Shaheed said over 70 countries currently have anti-blasphemy laws that can be used to suppress dissenting views, in violation of international human rights standards.
