L. Ron Hubbard Receives Honorary Humanitarian Award in Brussels

The Award of the Help the Needy Foundation: “For the legacy that he left mankind through his contribution to raising moral standards”

Brussels – Humanitarian and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard was awarded the Honorary Award for Humanitarians, In Memoriam by the Help The Needy Foundation. Georgi Naydenov, the executive director of this Bulgarian non-profit organization, presented the award to the Director of the European Human Rights Office of the Church of Scientology International during a ceremony held in the L. Ron Hubbard Gallery at the Brussels-based human rights office.

Acknowledging Mr. Hubbard, “for the legacy that he left mankind through his contribution to raising moral standards and for the true value of all his work,” the award, was created by Bulgarian artist Nina Ninova.

Known best as the founder of the Scientology religion, the legacy of L. Ron Hubbard includes the more than 5,000 writings and 3,000 tape-recorded lectures on the subject of the spirit and life. Mr. Hubbard’s breakthroughs on the subject of study have benefited more than 3 million children; his pioneer work on addiction and the spiritual effects of drugs have helped hundreds of thousands more free themselves from substance abuse; fifty million have been touched by his nonreligious moral code; all in addition to the many millions who hold Mr. Hubbard’s work to be the spiritual cornerstone of their lives.

“We are truly honored to accept this award on behalf of Mr. Hubbard and sincerely thank the Help The Needy Foundation,” said Fabio Amicarelli, Director of the European Human Rights Office of the Church of Scientology International. “As Mr. Hubbard said, ‘My own philosophy is that one should share what wisdom he has, one should help others to help themselves.’ I look forward to working closely with the Foundation in the future, to accomplish the purposes we hold in common, and help make human rights a reality in Bulgaria and the rest of Europe.”

The Help The Needy Foundation Memoriam Award has been given only once before, to Exarch Stephan, who saved the lives 50,000 Bulgarian Jews during World War II.

The Help The Needy Foundation is a non-governmental non-profit independent public organization, dedicated to the creation of conditions for a dignified way of life for all. Help The Needy is an official partner of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
